Outspoken Gen Z Youth Collins Odhiambo Arrested for Protesting Against Bad Governance
This morning, Collins Odhiambo, a fearless Gen Z activist known for leading protests against the controversial Finance Bill during a mass at All Saints Cathedral in June, was arrested by police for his peaceful demonstration. Standing at the entrance of the church, Odhiambo held the national flag and chanted "bad governance" in an effort to highlight the ongoing mismanagement in the country.
Authorities swiftly apprehended him, taking him to Capitol Hill Police Station, where he now faces charges of "creating a disturbance in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace."
The collaboration between the police and All Saints Cathedral administration in pressing charges against Odhiambo has sparked public outcry. Critics are accusing Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit, head of the Anglican Church of Kenya, of transforming the church into an arm of the government, prioritizing state interests over justice.
Collins Odhiambo remains in remand at Capitol Hill Police Station, awaiting his court appearance tomorrow, Monday, September 16th, 2024.
